COHOUSING
Proposals for cohousing developments across several sites in Oxford, UK.
The designs were produced over a few years with the Oxford Cohousing group through co-design visioning workshops and conversation and formed the basis of the group’s bidding documents. The masterplans and visuals were key to bridging the “credibility gap” with key stakeholders in the change-averse local legislative, planning and business environment.
Cohousing is an alternative model to the developer-led, market-driven housing that abounds today. Cohousing communities are intentional communities owned and managed by their residents. Each household has a self-contained private home but residents come together to manage their community, sharing assets and activities.
The proposals and were realised in collaboration with local practice Transition by Design.
